2015年初，我开始在西门子PLM软件公司实习，参与了一个复杂项目，要使用Perl脚本语言编写工具，追踪NX（西门子的CAD/CAM/CAE软件）从一个版本到下一个版本的代码变化的传播。这个项目要求我能熟练掌握Perl，这是我要为公司研发工具的脚本语言。要为这整个程序编码，我需要具备能用创造性思维解决问题的能力，因为这个项目从始至终，我都要独立完成。

鉴于我在IT(Page Europa)和产品工程服务领域（西门子）上积累的工作经验，我认为我选择的职业道路与我在这两所公司所做的工作是一致的。能亲眼看到公司IT部门的工作方式让我印象深刻，这也是最令我感兴趣的。我在西门子的项目是我独立开发，在没有向任何人寻求帮助的情况下为一个大的脚本项目编码。现在，我认为编程就是我想从事的职业。

通过在不同领域积累的丰富经验，我认为辛辛那提大学给了发现自我的合适机会，让我能变得更坚韧、自力更生，在任何情况下都敢于尝试。

Abhishek-International Admissions

I am Abhishek Kapur, an International Ambassador at the University of Cincinnati. I am from New Delhi, India and am a full time Computer Science Honors student at the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. I am currently a Pre-Junior having done a Research Internship in Rome, Italy and a Co-op with Siemens PLM Software in Milford, Ohio. I spent a little over 2 months in Italy carrying out my research. During these two months, I focused mainly on IT systems optimization, IT systems troubleshooting and also as a side project created an Internal Website for Page Europa. At Page Europa, I gained hands on work experience in the field of Information and Computer Technology (ICT) for eight weeks. I worked and was groomed as a Junior Engineer in various processes of ICT. Additionally, I actively participated in meetings with customers, consultants, manufacturers and other technical personnel as part of my technical training. Also, during these eight weeks, I travelled to Milan, Naples, Venice, Florence, Pompeii, Sorento and Capri. In the beginning of 2015, I started Co-oping with Siemens PLM Software where I took up a complex project of writing a tool using Perl which tracks the propagation of code changes from one release to downstream releases of NX (CAD/CAM/CAE Software by Siemens). This project required me to gain in-depth knowledge of Perl, which is the scripting language I chose to develop this tool for my company. Coding this entire program required creative problem solving skills and out of the box thinking, as I worked on it from the beginning to the very end, single handedly.

Now that I have worked with the IT (Page Europa) and the Product Engineering Services sector (Siemens), I feel that the career path I choose will be in line with what I did during my stint with both the companies. I was impressed by seeing the way the IT department of the Company worked; and it fascinated me the most. Also, at Siemens I was the sole developer of my project and yet managed to code such a big script without seeking assistance from anyone. I, now feel that programming is what I would like to take up as a profession. Having so much of experience in various different fields, I feel that the University of Cincinnati has given me the right opportunities to discover myself. All this has helped me become more resilient, self-reliant and has given me the courage to attempt any kind of situation with self-assurance.
